Gallery Assassin’s Creed III Protagonist Leaked?

AC3 Headline Pic

Let the wild speculation begin. The folks over at Kotaku have received a seemingly legitimate tip from a Best Buy employee who snapped a photo of what is apparently promotional art for Assassin’s Creed III. You can check out the full-sized photo below:

Obviously, upon looking at the photo, it would seem the long-standing rumors and speculation of the next game in the Assassin’s Creed saga taking place during the American Revolution are true, proven by the original Continental Flag waving in the background. Furthermore, the Assassin in question seems to be wearing a variation of the military uniforms for the Continental Line soldiers of the era, while also wielding both a pistol and a tomahawk which, curiously enough, is shaped after the Assassin symbol. Considering this Assassin is holding a tomahawk, it can only be surmised that he is Native American descent, which is a departure from previous protagonists in the series.

Of course, this is all completely unconfirmed, although retail stores do sometimes get early word on upcoming games to prepare for an upcoming marketing blitz; having prior experience working in retail, I can attest to receiving early snippets of info on upcoming games in the past, and I am sure that practice still occurs to this day.

Perhaps adding fuel to the fire, Ubisoft has recently updated their official Assassin’s Creed Facebook fan page with both a new image (which some have speculated to be the infamous Valley Forge in Pennsylvania) and a status update which says, “A major announcement from Assassin’s Creed is only days away. Tune in to http://www.assassinscreed.com/ tomorrow for more details.

What will be announced? It’s anyone’s guess, really, though at least we now have one possible route in which this announcement may turn. Stay tuned to ESG as we will cover any additional news regarding this hot topic!
