It has come to our attention that gamers across the globe are getting banned for playing the almighty Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 title prior to release date. The first thought that comes to mind is that those gamers are pirates, playing illegal copies of the game on modded 360s. While for some that may be true, we have heard a most surprising rumor that it is not the case for all. According to close sources, Gamers who have purchased the title via retail store with hard-earned cash are getting the Ban Hammer from Microsoft. Furthermore, any scores achieved prior to the release date will be wiped clean as soon as the game is shipped. Now, we ask, is this at all fair to the hardcore gamers who simply can't wait to play what may be the hottest title of this year?! Should gamers suffer consequences brought upon them by shady retailers who have no respect for release dates? On a different note, why should we blame the independent game store that strives to attract customers by breaking a few rules?

The real issue is extremely clear to me. Products are being leaked. Some have speculated that Microsoft is the laughing man behind the controversy, leaking their titles to the market in order to provoke pirates into sharing it on the web. Thus, banning those who play it online whether or not the title has been purchased. If it is true, that gamers who have purchased the title via retailer are getting banned, it's safe to say that Microsoft is playing the guessing game. A corporate giant who charges for online gameplay, a feature provided for free by Sony, is banning (corrupting the IP of Xbox 360 consoles in order to prohibit connection to Xbox Live) gamers for playing a legit, purchased copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. That is as good as rotten cheese. I'm claiming shenanigans on this one. What do you think? If you are a victim of the Ban Hammer, Feel free to comment and provide feedback.
