For years, speculation of a Silent Hill movie sequel has surfaced and resurfaced on the web. Hearts were broken the moment Roger Avary (film writer) and Christopher Gans (film director) parted ways and left us with the dark void we had until recently. Word has resurfaced concerning Roger Avary's involvement with the sequel. Rumor has it that Roger Avary is returning his focus on the abandoned project and has signed on to write, possibly direct Silent Hill 2.

Fans...don't get too excited. In August, Avary came clean and pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence which in result, caused the death of his passenger, Andreas Zine and injury to his wife, Gretchen. The accident occurred in January and later, December, he claimed innocent when faced with the charges. Free on bail and awaiting a sentence on September 29th, the rumors if true will be crushed by this man's very own dark past.

In my opinion, I feel Christopher Gan's direction felt the most authentic when it came to video game adaptation. The camera angles, lighting and character movements were very close to what we have experienced while playing a Silent Hill title. However, with Roger Avary possibly filling in those shoes, we wonder if this can be a bad thing or a very good thing. Roger's script, I felt, was extremely bland. There were moments where I felt the characters were emotionless and unintelligent. Most times, the dialogue was pointless and blatantly obvious. We hope that the next script builds a better sense of character attachment and a dialogue that's challenging to the viewer's mental psyche.

Two things we definitely wanna see return in the sequel are the glorious Pyramid Head and those busty nurses from Hell.

Since the protagonist of Silent Hill the movie was female, different from the first Silent Hill video game, We hope to see the sequel revolve around a male figure. With Silent Hill 2 (the video game) being one of the most loved in the SH franchise, a sequel based on SH2's story would be an awesome tribute to the hardcore fans while at the same time, providing a clearer understanding of the Silent Hill realm to those who aren't fans and were left confused by the first movie. At this point, we can only hope for the best. Whether or not Roger Avary will be officially involved with the film, we hope this franchise gets the overly due attention it deserves.
