Call of Duty: Black Ops II Trailer Revealed
We all knew it was coming, although most were probably not expecting it to arrive in this fashion. Activision and Treyarch has lifted the veil off of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which surprisingly takes place in the near-future of 2025.
Black Ops character Frank Woods will be returning, although he is an old man in the future, obviously enough. Fans of Black Ops may be puzzled on that one, as the fate of Woods was apparently sealed during the game’s campaign. However, astute players who are able to access the hidden computer in the game’s title screen were able to read a message that apparently confirmed that Woods was alive – it now seems as if Black Ops 2 is taking that route with the game’s storyline.
Obviously, the near-future setting allows for some futuristic tech to be on display here, and the trailer shows off unmanned drones causing destruction, as well as some futuristic aircraft in motion. Overall, credit has to be given to Treyarch for not simply making a quick tie-in effort here, although in my opinion, the Call of Duty engine is certainly showing its age nowadays, as texture work and the environments leave a bit to be desired. Of course, this being a presumably early build of the game, it can be surmised that the visual presentation of the game will be improved as we see more of the game down the line.
Alright, well that’s enough blabber from me: you can view the trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops II below. The game is scheduled for a release on November 13, 2012, and while no platforms have been confirmed in the trailer, you can damn sure bet that the game will release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
