ESG: How long has Toki been in development? And what was the some of the obstacles you had during development?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: I could say that we are at 6 Months of development. As for obstacles we had during the development process, the worst was for the programming. After created enough assets, I was looking for a programmer and I met an independent studio director in Belgium. He offered me to manage this part in exchange of a royalty’s sales agreement. So I accepted his offer. The Belgium studio started at the end of February 09 but after 6 Month the demo was not finished. So we decided to stop the agreement and we directly recruited one programmer. We started from scratch in using the Torque Engine and after 1 month and half our Toki remake demo was finished and ready to be send to Microsoft.

ESG: Has a publisher been chosen yet? If so can you please share that information with us?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: Currently we are trying to get our Toki remake published directly by 1st party (Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo). Digital platform allows independent studio’s (2nd party) to work directly with 1st party without need a publisher (3rd party). But in the case of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo saying- no we are not interested by your game, you need to get a publisher. We’ll then search for some Publishers.

ESG: Is there an estimated time of release for the game?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: We expect Toki remake to be released spring of 2010. Later in April, we will confirm with first party or publishers.

ESG: Will there be a demo? If so on what platforms?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: If the game release on XBLA first, you could download a demo version and test it before purchase the full version. I think it will be great because all players could see and test our game for free and make them choice. I really like the concept of testing before buy.

ESG: What platforms will the Toki remake be released on?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: I think All digital platform but not at the same time. We are currently waiting for an answer from Microsoft XBLA. XBLA was the first platform we choose for release our Toki remake then it will be PC, PSN, and Wiiware. We have recently become Official Developers for Sony and Nintendo.

ESG: Will we ever see a retail version of the game or is it currently slated for a digital release only?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: Toki and Joe & Mac will be only available on digital platform for Console and PC for the moment no retail versions are plan.

ESG:  Recently, you have also announced that your next game after Toki will be a remake of Caveman Ninja: Joe & Mac. How early in development is it in?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: Currently we have not started the development of Joe & Mac, we’ll start it after finishing Toki. We just opened our Golgoth Forums and a topic dedicated to Joe and Mac. So for the moment we take all comments and wishes on what players want to see in our remake.

ESG: Why did you choose to remake Caveman Ninja?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: Joe and mac is typically the kind of games we appreciate like Toki. It’s a fun platformer game with crazy and humorous characters. The level design is rich in color, the game has a Multiplayer mode. So we chose it for all these reasons. And I’m sure this remake will be great.

ESG: What are the target platforms for Caveman Ninja Joe & Mac?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: I think you could find our Joe and Mac remake on all digital platforms from pc to console. But I don’t know if the game will release firstly on one specifically and later on others. Time will answer.

ESG: Is Caveman Ninja also targeted for a 2010 release?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: Yes, the ideal target date will be for the end of the 2010. Now, that date set in stone, If we really want to release it for the end of the next year, it will take huge amounts of work and I hope that the Toki sales will allow us to recruit some new people to the Golgoth Team.

ESG: Finally, what classic titles would you like to see revisited in the future? And would you like to see then made in classic 2D or 3D?

Anthony De Sa Ferreira: I’d like to see a remake of Windjammer, Wonderboy, and a good Beat ‘em up such as Dungeon Dragon Shadow of Mystara or Cadillac and Dinosaurs, All in modern 2D, It could be great fun to remake these classics. We would be really happy to work on these IP’s. But for the moment we need to show what we can do with Toki and Joe and Mac to have an interest from publishers such as Capcom or Sega.

** ESG would like to thank Golgoth for their time, we are all excited to see these remakes. 2010 cannot come soon enough :-) **
