GTA: Vice City Celebrates its 10th Anniversary With Upcoming iOS/Android Release
It’s hard to believe, but Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be turning 10 years old on October 29. In celebration of such a momentous milestone for the game, Rockstar Games has announced that the legendary homage to the ’80s will be released for iOS and Android devices later this Fall.
“Grand Theft Auto: Vice City gave players the freedom of a massive open-world in one of the most iconic and vibrant settings ever realized in a game,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “It was a defining moment in the series and we’re delighted to be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a stunning, updated version for phones and tablets.”
In addition to the mobile release of the game, there will be various anniversary-themed assets released, such as artwork and a new anniversary trailer highlighting iconic scenes and music from the game itself. Finally, a number of limited-run promotional items will be available for sale at the Rockstar Warehouse, with various items being available via upcoming online giveaways.
It goes without saying that Vice City is the greatest video game homage (and perhaps in any medium out there) to the wonderful decade that was the ’80s. While some may scoff at the pop culture and fashion trends seen within that time period, it cannot be denied that what came out of the ’80s inspired the decades to follow in a big way. Quite frankly, I could care less what anyone says about the ’80s, as it was utterly and completely rad.
