Holy Mackerel! The unthinkable has happened in the video game industry. A console which has been sleeping in it’s grave for 8+ yrs will be receiving a new title. Sega boys and girls, say hello to Hypertension for the Dreamcast. Hypertension is an all new title that is set to release sometime in 2010 for PC, Lynux and Dreamcast. Intended to be a sequel for the 1997 PC game Blood, developers TDGMods have used the Hyper3dge engine, a modified version of the original Doom engine, to bring Hypertension to life.

If you have played Blood, you will recognized some of the enemies in Hypertension, as well as some of the weapons. You will be able to control two different characters in the game as the story bridge between Blood and Hypertension unfolds. Personally, after viewing the trailer, I felt nostalgic as memories of me as a geekling (Geekling: A child geek) playing Wolfenstein on my IBM running DOS and Windows 3.1 came to mind. That’s a good memory. I can’t help but have the urge to relive those moments with this title. That means I may be shopping for a Dreamcast on Craigslist pretty soon.
