Marvel vs. Capcom Origins Hits XBLA, PSN in September
Today is quite the day for retro gamers! Capcom has announced that Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, a dual compilation of classic arcade fighters, will be arriving on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network this September. Fighting fans will be pleased to know that Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes will be included in this compilation, along with the following enhancements:
- GGPO-enhanced online play with 8-player lobbies and spectator mode
- Enhanced HD graphics
- Dynamic challenges that lead to various unlockables
- Replay saving
- Achievement/trophy support
While it is odd that the other games in this legacy of titles aren’t a part of the group here, such as X-Men: Children of the Atom, X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, we should at least be thankful that we are receiving some classic CPS-2 arcade ports nonetheless. Marvel vs Capcom Origins will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points and on PlayStation Network for $14.99 this September. LET’S GO CRAZY!
Oh, and don’t fret about the splotchy-looking photos here – for whatever reason, Capcom has decided to show pictures with a smoothing filter enabled. If this is anything like Capcom previous re-releases, then we can expect to be able to turn that nasty visual filter off and use the original game’s sprites, as well as scanlines.
