Harmonix has announced at the Game Developer's Conference that Green Day: Rock Band will be launching worldwide on all three major consoles on June 8th, 2010.
Releasing on a standalone disc as opposed to being just a slew of DLC for the main Rock Band games, Green Day: Rock Band will bring with it 47 tracks (of which are fully exportable to either Rock Band or Rock Band 2 for an additional fee), access to a vault of archival footage and media from the band, the artists' likenesses, and surprisingly enough, the three-part vocal harmonies which were initially seen in last year's The Beatles: Rock Band. Now while harmonies were a perfect fit for The Fab Four's game (due to The Beatles making excessive use of harmonies in their music), it is definitely of much lesser importance to a band like Green Day, so it will be interesting to see how it is implemented on this venture.
While a full tracklist hasn't been officially unveiled as of this time, a few of the tracks have been revealed from the presser:
- Brain Stew
- Jaded
- Hitchin' a Ride
- American Idiot
- Wake Me Up When September Ends
- Boulevard of Broken Dreams
For those curious to see what the box art for the game will look like, below are the box art for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the Wii:
A fairly quick trailer has been released as well, showing off Green Day perfoming their hit "American Idiot", of which you can check out below:
