In a rather unusual move, Nintendo has announced the Nintendo 3DS, the company's successor to the Nintendo DS, and it has been announced before E3 no less.
Not many details are known about this new device, other than the fact that the 3DS (this is just a temporary name) enables the use of 3D effects without the need of special glasses, is backwards-compatible with DS/DSi software, and will launch sometime before March of 2011. The very brief press release that Nintendo let out is extremely light on information, although it states that additional details will be announced at E3, most definitely meaning at their annual E3 press briefing.
As more details begin to surface regarding the tentatively-titled Nintendo 3DS, we will be sure to update you as soon as the news hits. Oh, and the above image is obviously NOT what the 3DS looks like.
