NYCC 2011: Street Fighter X Tekken Panel Highlights

Capcom held a Street Fighter X Tekken panel during New York Comic Con, and within were quite a few juicy details that were let out, all to the joy of the passionate fighting game fans that were in attendance. Here’s the rundown of what went on at the panel:

  • The panel was hosted by fan favorite Seth Killian, with Street Fighter X Tekken producer Yoshinori Ono as a panelist. Ono-san is quite the colorful character, by the way.
  • Some time was taken to explain the new Gem system, which essentially is a new gameplay mechanic that caters to non-fighting game enthusiasts, and gives them a fighting chance against more experienced players by giving them increased attack, defense, speed, and other properties. It goes without saying that this new feature wasn’t accepted warmly by the mainly hardcore fighter crowd in attendance, although Ono-san joked that this new Gem system will guarantee a way for you and your significant other to bond over a game.
  • A collector’s edition of the game was shown off, which you can take a gander at below:

In a great bit of news, Ono-san announced the official release date for Street Fighter X Tekken, which is scheduled for March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe. Below, you can check out a lengthy video that goes in-depth on the new Gem system and what it entails:
