Video NYCC 2012: Lost Planet 3 Gameplay Walkthrough

Lost Planet 3 NYCC Trailer Screencap

Are you one of the many people who unfortunately won’t be able to make it to this year’s New York Comic Con? Hey there, buddy…welcome to the club! There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though – we get to see some direct feed videos straight from the show floor! In this case, we have a new video from Capcom’s upcoming Lost Planet 3  (due out in early 2013), which is a narrated gameplay walkthrough showing the game’s protagonist Jim facing off against some new Akrid variants on E.D.N. III, although perhaps “new” isn’t the right term to use considering this is actually a prequel to the first two entries.

Regardless, you can view the walkthrough below which clocks in at over nine minutes and shows how the gameplay and controls have changed since the previous installments.

Considering how smooth this demo is running, I can only assume that this is a PC build of the game that is being utilized here, as console game that utilize Unreal Engine 3 tend to suffer from framerate problems, as well as screen tearing. The game is certainly looking to be a fun ride, although I am still a bit miffed that the game went with the overused Unreal Engine 3 as opposed to sticking with Capcom’s proprietary MT Framework engine.

Them’s the breaks, I suppose.
