News Editor, 1UP.com
We are currently seeking a News Editor for it's the flagship video gaming property 1UP.com. This person would lead a team of writers in producing the gaming industry's leading destination for news. The ideal candidate for this job is someone with prior gaming industry experience, a terrific writer and editor, a good manager, and most importantly, someone who absolutely lives for the excitement of the video game industry - someone who follows every announcement and yearns to break stories that matter.Core responsibilities include:
- Writing, editing, fact checking, and producing original news content · Managing team of remote news writers; giving assignments, handling budgets
- Formulating strategies for covering industry events and announcements · Participating in other site content, including audio and video shows · Attending industry events and maintaining relationships with representatives
Person applying for the job should have:
- 2-3 years experience writing for a video game publication, ideally in a news capacity·
- An extreme knowledge of and passion for the video game industry - not just the games, but the industry itself · Impeccable writing and editing skills · Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle long hours when necessary Good management skills
