One, Two, Freddy’s Coming For You in Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat is branching out. First, they involve the entire DC Universe in the aptly named Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and later they rope in Kratos as a PS3 exclusive character for Mortal Kombat 9. Now, at Comic-Con, WB Games and NeatherRealm Studios announce the GREATEST. IDEA. EVER. by including horror icon Freddy Krueger as a DLC download this August. Move over, Scorpion, I’ve found my new favorite character…

It should be noted that there are a few fanboy quibbles with this depiction of the character, if this is the final build. First, and most obvious, Freddy should only have one glove. Do we really need to make the motherf**king Dream Demon into something more dangerous by adding another weapon? Second, and less obvious but deserving of mention, is that this is obviously taking after the 2010 reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street, played by Jackie Earle Haley. I love Robert Englund and his portrayal of Freddy, but I can live with playing as the pretender to the throne. Besides, we already got to play as Robert Englund himself in Black Ops.
