Play Game Boy Color Through Your Web Browser!

HTML5-Game-Boy-Color-Emulator

UPDATE #2: The Game Boy Color emulator is back up! Thanks to a tip from teh-nook.com forum user Tyfighter, the original link in this article is now back in working order. As such, you can return to saying goodbye to any work you may have piled up in the office, and play Tetris for hours on end instead!

UPDATE: Sadly, it looks like all of the web attention this gem garnered today caused the author of the project to take it down, as going to the link now only brings you to a youtube clip from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Apparently, this shows some resentment from the author to the influx of people visiting his page. If any new developments arise from this situation, we’ll update here.

As immature and cruel as the Internet can be sometimes, there are moments of pure genius that make up for it. Case in point: an HTML5-powered Game Boy Color emulator that allows you to play a variety of classic Game Boy Color games through the convenience of your web browser, with no need to install any software beforehand. Even better, the emulator is powered by the web browser itself, and as such doesn’t rely on Flash, which in most cases, ends with a lag-filled experience more often than not.

There are over 60 Game Boy Color titles to choose from, spanning hits such as Tetris DX, Super Mario Land, The legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX, Wario Land, and Pokémon Red/Blue, just to name a few. Should you have your own Game Boy Color ROMs, you can also add them to play through the web-powered emulator (no help from us on how to obtain those, though).

Just be warned: if you decide to use this emulator, you will most assuredly have a drop in production over at your job for the foreseeable future. As long as you get to relive your youth, all is well, right?
