Prey 2 E3 Trailer Released

Blade Runner, anyone?

The official E3 trailer for Prey 2 has been released, and while it’s still questionable as to why the game dons the Prey name, it definitely gives off a very Blade Runner-type vibe, which is never a bad thing; after all, who doesn’t love a Dystopian future? The trailer shows protagonist Killian Samuels, former U.S. Marshall-turned Bounty Hunter off on a chase in an alien world to capture his next assigned target. What follows is a slick chase and shootout sequence, all the while Johnny Cash’s cover of Soundgarden’s “Rusty Cage” plays (quite a slick choice, might I add).

While this game does not capture the feel and look of the original Prey, and seemingly does not involve previous protagonist Tommy (at least from what we can see), Prey 2 instead makes its own vibe by taking cues from sources such as Blade Runner and Firefly. It’s different, yes, but it may just work out in the end; hopefully we can get a better look at the proper game itself when Prey 2 is most assuredly shown off during E3 next week.

You can check out the trailer below, and remember that Prey 2 is scheduled to release in 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC!
