See Mario in Times Square on Nov. 12th

Super-Mario-3D-Land

If you happen to be in Midtown on November 12th, you might want to make a stop in Times Square. Not only is it home to the Naked Cowboy, Nintendo will be present with a big event for Mario fans, celebrating the launch of Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS.

A full Mario-themed jungle gym will be present for (presumably younger) fans to run through life-sized warp pipes, trampoline coin jumps, and even a flag at the finish. I don’t know if it’s built for someone my age or my size, but I sure hope so. It sounds like a blast, and even Mario didn’t have to have the fire department cut him out of a warp pipe.

While on site, you can also pick up some Tanooki ears (while supplies last), have a slice of mushroom pizza if you tweet “#SuperMario3D”, and see a performance of life-sized Nintendo characters. Or, if you’re not into all of that, you can show up and play Super Mario 3D Land. Nintendo is also offering some fans the chance to buy the game a day early at the Toys R’ Us in Times Square.

This is why I love living in New York City. This sort of stuff doesn’t happen out in Wisconsin. Stay tuned to ESG for coverage of the Super Mario 3D Land launch next month.
