Sony Releases ‘Candy’ Pink Controller. The Brainwashing Continues.

OMGOSH! Yesterday, Sony announced the release of a new PS3 controller color…CANDY PINK!!! *Screams like an excited little girl then ends sarcasm* Gee…I wonder who’s the targeted audience here. Could it be…WOMEN!? But of course. Only women enjoy purchasing items in the nationally proclaimed color for all women…Pink. Hmmmm…
We’ve got Roger Federer, seen here…wearing a Pink shirt.
We also have this family, each wearing a Pink shirt on Easter.
Here is the store PINK, made famous by British Tailor Thomas Pink.
Lastly, My friend Andrew, seen here proudly posing with his Pink DS.
I believe at this point, currently the year 2010, it’s safe to say that Pink is just a color like any other color. It is loved by both male and female, child and adult. This type of manipulative marketing is what causes unoriginality and inacceptance. Those who are targeted, purchase this product under the pressure of society, the pressure to behave according to the standard. That standard being, Girls like Pink. For those who go against it, they are burdened with the feeling of inacceptance. Growing up, I hated Pink. My favorite color was Blue. Anyone can guess the type of ridicule I experienced in grade school for liking a “Boy” color. Instead, I should have been encouraged to be original and this type of marketing hinders that ability. Sony, settle for a black background next time. Black and Pink is actually pretty pimp.
