Teaser For 2013 Dragon Ball Z Movie Now Online
Dragon Ball Z fans are in for a big treat next year, as a new movie for the wildly popular anime franchise is set to debut in Japan on March 30, 2013. It’s been a long time since a feature film has been made for Dragon Ball, as the last one, The Path to Ultimate Strength (10th Anniversary Special), was released back in 1996. While there have been a few animated specials made within the seventeen year gap, none have been proper theatrical releases, so this is rather big news for fans and something to genuinely be excited about.
Not many details have surfaced regarding the film itself, but what we do know is that the film is set to take place during the ten year gap between the defeat of Majin Buu and the very end of Dragon Ball Z. Additionally, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama will be heavily involved with the project itself, giving out advice and his creative input to help make the product truly special. You can view the teaser trailer below which shows a quick glimpse of the newly animated Goku – the video is entirely in Japanese, but the visuals really do all the talking here.
Personally speaking, I am beyond ecstatic here, as I have been a fan of Dragon Ball since the early 90s, long before it ever officially debuted here in the US. Growing up seeing raw Japanese episodes on VHS, Dragon Ball has always held a very special place in my heart. Knowing that a new movie will be coming out next year, you better be sure that I will be on that once it hits stateside – fansubs, here I come!

I love Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. But I feel the same way as Akira Toriyama.. The series should have been put to rest when he was done with it and everyone should have just accepted it.
I don't believe Mr. Toriyama's ever gone on record as saying that specifically – while he knew that he was done doing anything Dragon Ball-related at the time, he also knew that the franchise was something incredibly popular, and thus gave Bird Studio and Toei his blessing to continue in with the franchise however they saw fit (GT and the various OVAs that have been created in past years).
With this new movie though, Mr. Toriyama is the most involved he has ever been since DBZ aired, which is to say that he is as genuinely excited about the project as most fans are. It will most certainly be interesting to see how this project turns out, especially since it will have his creative input.
